Employee Self-Service (ESS): Allows employees to create, display and change some of their own data in the Bridgestone intranet.
In Personal Information, for example, employees can use the Personal Data service to create and edit their own name, address and bank information. In this way, employees can keep their own HR data up-to-date, while simultaneously reducing the number of time-consuming and expensive activities performed by the Human Resources Department.
ESS covers data from various areas:
- Personal Information- manage your personal data, addresses and bank information. - Working Time- record your working times, request leave and display your leave balances. - Benefits and Payment- display your salary statement and payment summary.
ESS Data Confidentiality and Security
The personal data in the Bridgestone HR/Payroll System is maintained at the highest level of security protection available. ESS connectivity uses the same technology that is used to access secure sites on the internet, for example activities such as shopping or banking.
Employees log on to ESS with their Network (Windows) Username ID and password- not their SAP ID and password, if different.
Security is maintained in the HR/Payroll System through the assignment of “roles” that control access to every data element maintained in the system. Employees of Bridgestone accessing ESS are assigned the Employee Self-Service role in the HR/Payroll System which is specifically linked to an individual personnel number.
Through this security mechanism, employees are able to access and view only their own employee data stored in the HR/Payroll System.
